Today marks he 25th anniversary of International Day of Older Persons (IDOP), and to celebrate, The Wisdom Project is being launched.
The project, an initiative of Provider Assist with Seed Education, is designed to encourage older Australians to record video a video sharing the advice they would like to give their younger self.
The footage will then be uploaded to a website where the collected knowledge can be stored and shared.
Provider Assist COO Victoria Kelly said, “In our work we are privileged to be constantly reminded of the incredible amount of wisdom and life experience that older Australian’s have. Sadly, we find that this wisdom isn’t harvested and that the opportunities to learn from past generations are being wasted”.
“Modern technology has made it easier than ever to record and share the wisdom that comes with aging. Using modern technology is also a great way to bridge generational gaps and bring older and younger people closer together. Coming together and sharing stories is what it’s all about,” Ms Kelly said.
The project launches today at www.ProviderAssist.com.au/
