The MONOPOLY brand celebrates 85 years

The world’s favourite family gaming brand is now 85 years old – and still going strong. To celebrate this extraordinary milestone, the MONOPOLY brand has created its most opulent game yet.

With eight, brand new gold tokens symbolising living the good life of luxury and fun – a race car, sunglasses, a yacht, a bowtie, a jet, a helicopter, a wristwatch, and a top hat – the premium-packaged MONOPOLY 85th ANNIVERSARY Edition game is destined to become a collector’s item.

“For 85 years, the game of MONOPOLY has played an important role in bringing people together and strengthening the bonds of family and friendship,” said Hasbro Pacific Brand Manager, Tom Munro.

“The MONOPOLY game has remained a timeless favourite and helped players create memories that last a lifetime – that’s exactly what this new 85th edition celebrates,” he said.

In addition to launching the new edition, the MONOPOLY brand is also celebrating its special anniversary year with an exciting partnership with Australian men’s health charity, Movember.

After 85 years sporting the most luxuriant facial hair in the business, five celebrated Australian street artists will reimagine the iconic ‘MR MONOPOLY’ character by giving him a ‘Mo-Lift.’ The exclusive artworks created will be auctioned off later this year to raise awareness and funds for Movember’s cause areas – mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer.

“It’s an exciting milestone for the MONOPOLY brand, and what better way to celebrate 85 years than reinventing one of the most iconic and recognisable features of the game – the MR MONOPOLY character himself,” said Munro.

Movember co-founder, Travis Garone said: “Since Movember’s inception in 2003, the humble moustache has been raising funds, raising awareness, starting conversations, and saving lives. The MR MONOPOLY character’s moustache is iconic which is why we’re excited to be working with some extremely talented artists and the Hasbro team on this creative restyle.”

The MONOPOLY 85TH ANNIVERSARY Edition game is available exclusively at Kmart from 10 June for RRP $39.99. It is suitable for 2-8 players aged eight years and up.
