Getting enough sleep is as essential for optimum health and performance as diet, exercise and a healthy nervous system. However, with most of us living in an over-stimulated state, it’s hard to get enough. Here are 4 ways to calm an overstimulated body:
1. Exercise. If you tend to sit for most of the day, get moving. Even an easy walk will have beneficial effects at bedtime.
2. Regular chiropractic care can help ease muscle and joint tension.
3. Sleeping in a darkened room – remove or dim lights and digital devices which can confuse our brains and interfere with our sleep cycle.
4. Reduce snoring. If you repeatedly wake up gasping for air, this can create an unhelpful “fight or flight” response affecting the depth of sleep, blood pressure and other health metrics.
