Retirees may be missing out on concessions they are eligible for, Gold Coast Australians in Retirement president Rob Grover announced last week.
Mr Grover said it’s becoming increasingly difficult to cover the escalating cost of living, with electricity, fuel, council rates and household insurance continually rising.
With health insurance premiums set to rise on April 1, Mr Grover has called a free seminar for retirees to attend on the Gold Coast on April 6.
It will discuss federal, state and local council concessions, discounts and benefits available to retirees, and how they can be claimed.
“Many retirees find their lifestyle is being eroded by the constantly rising cost of living. Unfortunately, many are not aware of the discounts that are available,” Mr Grover said.
“Also constantly changing rules, such as to the Commonwealth Seniors Health Card, mean some retirees are unaware that they may now be eligible for concessions they were previously excluded from.”
Speakers representing both the Federal Government and State Government will explain the discounts and concessions available for Gold Coast retirees and the eligible criteria that apply at the seminar.
“We hope that many Gold Coast retirees will benefit from learning what financial discounts they are currently missing out on,” Mr Grover said.
The meeting will be held at 9:30 am at the Broadbeach Seniors’ Centre, 23 T E Peters Drive, (cnr Havana Key), Broadbeach on Wednesday 6th April.
All Gold Coast retirees are welcome to attend however due to space limitations seating can only be guaranteed to those who register their attendance by contacting Rob Grover at robgrover@hotmail.com.
Hi, the discounts discussed would apply to all Australian pensioners ,not just the

It would be informative to get an appraise published, in the magazine, is that possible.?
