Your gift will make a lasting impact

Cooper Low with Dad ICU

Considering a gift in your Will is the opportunity to leave a legacy, it’s a simple but rewarding way to create a lasting impact that will live on through the extraordinary work done every day by our doctors, nurses and researchers.

Financial planning is important at every age and every stage of life, but especially for older Australians. Managing your finances wisely helps you to achieve your goals and dreams while at the same time allowing for unexpected family or business situations.

Another consideration is the opportunity to leave a legacy of lasting hope, by considering a charitable bequest in your financial plan.

Many of our most generous supporters have been motivated to give because of a personal experience with their children or grandchildren receiving care from our expert medical teams,” says Nicola Stokes, Chief Executive Officer of Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation.

Remembering the Foundation in their Will is a powerful way to express their gratitude and I have been privileged to hear some very moving stories behind those gifts.”

The Foundation has been responsibly investing legacies for more than thirty years and has seen how they have changed the course of children’s lives, particularly through clinical research studies that have led to ground breaking medical breakthroughs.

Many of us feel we can only afford to donate a limited amount to charity each year, but a bequest offers people a way to do more than they thought possible,” explains Nicola. “It’s a simple but rewarding way to create a lasting impact and ensures their memory will live on through the extraordinary work being done by our doctors, nurses and researchers.”

Knowing that your gift will have an incredible impact on the success of the hospital and the quality of care to countless children and their families.

Sydney Children’s Hospitals Foundation supports children and families throughout NSW and the broader Australian and even international communities through continued learning, research and development.

Despite much progress, children’s lives are still being cut short by debilitating chronic medical conditions, such as cystic fibrosis or cardiac disease, and there are still many gaps in scientific and medical knowledge, but the Foundation has an ambitious goal which they hope will inspire more Australians to get behind them.

“Our vision is to cure childhood diseases within the next generation,” says Nicola. “It’s a bold ambition, but with the support of the community we believe we can do it.”

She adds, I have heard it said that in adult medicine you can save a life, but in paediatrics, you can save a lifetime. That’s certainly true of a bequest, because you can impact the health of children throughout their whole lives, not just when they are in hospital.”
