Understanding Technology Now Easier for Seniors at Libraries

reitrees onlibrary computerSeniors needing a little help with understanding technology now have access to free resources at libraries throughout Australia.

The Everyone Connected Program is a step-by-step DVD which helps users improve their digital literacy at their own pace. Telstra Chief Sustainability Officer Tim O’Leary said with more consumer and government information moving online, it was important for seniors to feel comfortable to access these resources online.

“Having basic digital literacy allows people to keep connected and access the services they require, be it accessing health information, paying bills or keeping in touch with friends and family,” said Mr O’Leary.

“Feedback on the Everyone Connected program has been extremely positive, with many participants saying the resources provide relevant information in a format that’s easy for them to understand. “Not everyone has been brought up with technology and some have simply never been shown how to get online easily and safely. We’re committed to helping to close this gap and assisting all Australians to get connected.”

The DVDs cover the basics of using computers, tablets and smartphones, through to getting online and using social media.
