Family boating adventures in the Whitsundays

Whistunday Escape

Did you know?

You can hire a fully-equipped sailing or power boat to skipper yourself, your family and friends on an adventure around the 74 islands of the Whitsundays.

Boats have between two and four cabins, most with ensuites. Whether it’s just two of you, or a group of eight or more, Whitsunday Escape’s friendly reservations team can help you choose the right boat.

Boats are luxurious and come fully equipped with linen, utensils, safety equipment and all creature comforts. All you need to do is organise your food and drinks.

What does a day of bareboating look like?

Wake up in a secluded bay of an uninhabited island. Take your snorkelling gear (provided free of charge) and explore the underwater world before breakfast. Fire up the boat’s BBQ and enjoy bacon and eggs on the back deck. Take a kayak and explore the shoreline. Pore over the maps and decide where to go for the day. Should it be fishing, a visit to famous Whitehaven Beach, a short bushwalk with amazing views? Perhaps a day at Hamilton or Daydream Island with a day spa treatment, a cocktail at the pool bar, followed by a restaurant dinner? The choice is yours.

Do you need a licence?

You do not need formal boating qualifications or a licence, basic boating experience is sufficient, and extra tuition is available for those wanting to learn. A comprehensive briefing is part of the process with daily on-water support by Whitsunday Escape’s experienced staff.

Award winners

Whitsunday Escape have been in operation for over 25 years and have won numerous Tourism Awards over that time, most recently winning the Queensland Tourism Award for Unique Accommodation in 2018.

There’s no better way to explore the Whitsunday Islands than by bareboat. It’s an adventure like no other.
