Celebrating Seniors with Seniors Week WA

seniors week

Western Australia is celebrating Seniors this week with WA Seniors Week 2018. Seniors Week is designed to encourage people of all ages to celebrate the contributions of older people in the community.

Some of Western Australia’s most remarkable and dedicated seniors will be honoured at the WA Seniors Awards, with the Juniper Lifetime Achievement award being presented to a metropolitan and a regional winner for their contributions to the community.

This year also sees the return of awards which celebrate businesses and local governments dedicated to making their operations more age-friendly.

Long-running seniors event Have a Go Day will be held this Wednesday, November 14 at Burswood Park, encouraging community participation and active ageing while challenging stereotypes about getting older.

Have a Go Day attracts about 15,000 people and will have up to 230 stalls this year, including hobby, health, fitness and entertainment stands.

The State Government has provided more than $80,000 through the Seniors Week Community Grants program to enable local organisations across the State to hold seniors events in their communities.
