A new standard of living for Samford locals

Samford Interior

After years spent focused on work and family, retirement is an exciting opportunity – a time to savour every moment and enjoy everything you’ve worked for.

That’s the driving force behind the expansion of Reside Communities’ Samford retirement village, Samford Grove.

Brand new on-ground villas are set to offer premium, maintenance-free retirement living in stunning natural surrounds, within an established and vibrant resident community.

Without the stress and hassle of household or garden maintenance, more important things can take centre stage: travelling, pursuing new hobbies, spending time with loved ones.

Stage 1A of the expansion, which is due for completion in 2020, will deliver 16 villas, 12 apartments and an impressive resident clubhouse.

Known as the Homestead, the clubhouse will sit at the heart of the village and will form a central, social hub for residents and guests.

Each of the new homes has been architecturally designed for relaxed, open plan living and built to an exceptional standard, with quality finishes and premium features such waterfall benchtops and soft-close drawers and cupboards.

Each home is also purpose-built for older residents to ensure the living environment can easily adapt to changing needs in the future.

Located in Samford Valley, north of Brisbane, Samford Grove has been in operation since 2001 as a boutique, 27-dwelling community.

Specialist retirement operator Reside Communities acquired the village in mid-2018.

CEO Glen Brown said of the project: “At Reside Communities, our aim is to create communities that deliver an exceptional level of service and choice for our residents.

“When we acquired Samford Grove in June 2018, we knew it had enormous potential for growth, as one of the few established retirement villages in wider Brisbane with the space for on-ground villas.

“For many years, Samford residents have not had access to quality retirement options, with many choosing either to remain on properties or in large homes or to leave the community they know and love in order to access the support, connection and security of retirement village living.

“With this expansion, we are more than tripling the number of available retirement dwellings in the area, with all homes designed to standards like the Livable Housing Guidelines to enable positive ageing in place.

We are also offering an exceptional suite of new facilities and services to promote healthy, connected living for our growing resident community.”

Samford Grove resident Bev Dean said she was pleased to see the rapid progress of construction.

“I feel like it is fantastic – it’s going to be marvellous when everyone gets together,” she said.

“I’m most looking forward to welcoming the new people.”

The expanded community facilities, which will include a café, theatre, resident-run bar, library, gym, workshop and indoor swimming pool, will offer ample opportunities for social connection.

Samford Grove will also be closely linked to the wider community via a lush arbour running through the village and providing easy pedestrian access to Samford Village’s shops, services and cafés.

And, despite the area feeling like a hinterland retreat, major shopping centres and hospitals are within close driving distance and the nearby train station provides easy access to inner Brisbane.

This combination of location, lifestyle and quality is expected to make Samford Grove a sought-after retirement option, both among locals from Samford and its surrounding rural suburbs and from Brisbane retirees seeking a change of pace.

Many of Samford Grove’s Stage 1A villas have already been secured, but some homes remain for those who are interested.
