5 tips to eating more mindfully

mindful eating

Mindfulness is no longer this hippy mystical concept. There are books, websites, “influencers” and apps all promoting the practice as a potential antidote to many modern-day craziness and issues. Sharon Thurin, Founder and CEO of Slim Secrets, shares her top 5 tips for eating more mindfully and this can help us in our everyday life.

  • Put your phone down, step away from the TV and step up to the table! Eating at designated dining space – alone or with other people – brings your attention to the food you are consuming rather than other distractions. It also helps to prevent overeating!
  • Chew each mouthful purposefully and become aware of the taste, texture and smell of your food in detail. Stop when you become full, rather than continuing to eat until your plate is empty.
  • Sloooow down. Eating slowly means you eat less and enjoy what you are actually eating!
  • Know your food. Do you know where your food came from? Do you know what nourishing ingredients are in your food? Having a connection with your food, and the story behind it, helps us to appreciate and have a positive relationship with our food. All Slim Secrets’ ingredients are non-gmo.
  • Be grateful for the meal you have just eaten. Practising gratitude in our daily lives helps us to be happier.
