sex and intimate relationships after 50

Sex and intimate relationships over 50 is no longer taboo!  Women and men over fifty are downloading dating apps like Tinder and eHarmony at a rapid rate and, discovering a range of relationship outcomes. Of course while many are seeking platonic relationships and romance, there are those out there that are enjoying a smorgasbord of one night stands that they may have never experienced in their early life. By embracing internet technology, hooking up for friendship or sex has becoming so much easier..or has it?

Candace Bushnell, author of best selling book and TV series Sex in the City highlighted a key point recently during an interview with The Telegraph (London) “So what has changed? “Well, bars are still full of attractive, eligible men,” she flings back in her gravelly voice – the voice of a woman who has spent decades shouting over the music in hip Manhattan hot spots, “but the problem is that nobody is looking at each other anymore. Because if you’re going to hook up with someone, you’ve already made that arrangement online.”

As we get older, we gain confidence, and sex is an opportunity to express ourselves in a way we would not have dared in our earlier years.”  Whatever the case, the results are clear – sex remains a part of our lives well into our seventies and the results are supported by a recent Manchester University study found that “more than half of men and almost a third of women over the age of 70 reported that they were still sexually active.”
