Phone discounts for NSW Seniors Card holders

Vodafone today announced a range of initiatives, including a partnership with Seniors Card NSW, aimed at senior discounts across the country money on their phone bills and boosting their knowledge of smartphone technology.

Vodafone and Seniors Card NSW
Vodafone and Seniors Card NSW are working together to give existing Seniors Card NSW members discount mobile offers, as well as access to in-store mobile workshops.

Members of Seniors Card NSW – those over the age of 60 and living in New South Wales – will be able to switch over, or upgrade, to any of Vodafone’s $40 or above handset plans or SIM Only plans in-store, and receive the first month’s access fees free.

Vodafone’s Director of Sales, Ben McIntosh, said the company wants to ensure seniors are getting the savings they deserve.

“We know 93 percent of seniors use their card every day to receive discounts, and 77 percent of them also use the internet every day,” said Mr McIntosh.

“This is why we believe by providing this offer to New South Wales Seniors, they can take advantage of our 4G network to make the calls they want to friends and family. On applicable plans, customers will be able to make infinite standard national calls and browse the internet on their mobile device.”

Included in all Vodafone postpaid plans are infinite standard national calls and texts, generous amounts of data and access to the company’s award-winning $5 Roaming, which gives customers the freedom to use their home plan in more than 50 countries worldwide for $5 extra per day.

New South Wales Minister for Ageing John Ajaka said he welcomes the partnership between Vodafone and Seniors Card NSW.

“This is a fantastic deal for Seniors Card NSW holders which will make it easier and more affordable than ever to use a smartphone,” Mr Ajaka said.

“The partnership is not only a great deal, but is about giving older people practical and helpful training on how to make the most of the smartphone.”

Vodafone extends offer nationwide
Vodafone is also extending the offer to Senior Card holders in other states and territories. This will mean they have the chance to visit their nearest Vodafone store to switch over, or upgrade, to any of $40 or above handset plans or SIM Only plans in-store, and receive the first month’s access fees free as a discount.

In-store workshops for seniors
Vodafone will also be running six in-store workshops for seniors from 22 November. The workshop locations will be announced closer to the date. These workshops will be focused on helping seniors with setting up the basics on their phone such as their font size, wallpaper, and voicemail; ensuring they have all the tools they need to keep in touch with friends and family who live overseas; how to manage their mobile usage; how to back up their phone; and security tips and tricks.

Mr McIntosh said Vodafone wants to help seniors get the discounts they deserve, as well as the tech support they need to make the most of their smartphones.

“At Vodafone we understand new technology can sometimes be overwhelming to learn. We believe these in-store workshops will be extremely helpful, and before they know it, they’ll know more about using their phones then their grandchildren,” he said.

Network assurance with 30 Day Network Satisfaction Guarantee*
Vodafone customers can also enjoy network assurance with Vodafone’s network satisfaction guarantee.

Under the 30 Day Network Satisfaction Guarantee, if a new postpaid customer is not satisfied with Vodafone’s network within the first 30 days, they can cancel their contract, no questions asked. Vodafone will also refund any monthly access fees and monthly handset instalments paid by the customer as long as the equipment and device are returned to a Vodafone store within 10 days of making the claim. The 30 Day Network Satisfaction Guarantee is also available for business customers with up to 9 connections.
“We have invested significantly in our world class 4G network, and the results are supported by independent groups such as Open Signal. Their ‘State of Mobile Networks Australia’ report earlier this year shows how well Vodafone’s 4G network is performing. We are proud to offer a guarantee which highlights our commitment to being transparent about our network performance,” said Mr McIntosh.
