stamp exhibition

Melbourne will host the 2017 FIAP (Federation of Inter-Asian Philately) International Stamp Exhibition at Caulfield Racecourse from Thursday 30 March to Sunday 2 April 2017.

Visitors can spend the day immersed in the largest collection of philatelic and numismatic items on show in Australia since 2013, with more than 60 stands and 20,000 pages of competitive exhibits from 18 countries.

In addition, as principal sponsor of the exhibition, Australia Post will be releasing a number of limited edition products, some of which will only be available to purchase at the event.

A series of stamp and coin covers showcasing a selection of iconic Holden car models to celebrate 30 years of Holden in Australia will be available, with limited edition items being released each day of the exhibition.

To support the release of the stamp series, the Trafalgar Car Museum will be displaying all six of the classic Holden vehicles featured in the stamp series.

A dazzling exhibit of precious Australian gemstones will also be on display, featuring the pink diamond, golden sapphire, fluorite and rhodonite – all of which will also be available in a series of stamps.

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of Arthur Streeton’s birth and 100th anniversary of Sidney Nolan’s birth, two stamps will be released, featuring Sir Arthur Streeton’s Near Heidelberg (1890) and Sir Sidney Nolan’s Footballer (1946).

Further stamp issues, souvenirs and unique products will be available at the Australia Post stand, including a range of homewares with iconic stamp designs and a build your own official AFL medallion cover.
