Holiday In Queensland With QTopo Online Map

Summer camping is a pastime with a high degree of popularity that never seems to diminish.

Now, with national parks more accessible to families and tourists than ever (there are 306 alone in Queensland!), it’s a good time to check out QTopo, an online topographic map that allows anyone to create a custom purpose map based on their holiday season plans.

Minister for Natural Resources and Mines Andrew Cripps said the QTopo atlas is cutting-edge technology that makes accessing information about the geography and topography of Queensland a simple task.

“QTopo provides details such as the location of water features, mountains, valleys, roads, place names, local government areas, National Parks and State borders,” Mr Cripps said.

“This makes QTopo ideal for your holiday planning with a range of personal uses including travel, mountain biking, four-wheel driving, hiking and orienteering.”

“QTopo allows instant access to the most up-to-date information.  Maps can be created on your PC or mobile devices, saved for viewing later, emailed to friends, or printed at home to customise your trip,” he said.

Family Parks Chairman Dennis Werthenbach said the summer holidays are an excellent part of the year to spend in caravan and holiday parks.

“Our park operators always enjoy the Christmas period – and the chance to get reacquainted with these extended families who return every year,” he said.

“I hope more and more people follow the tradition of enjoying the option of a ‘parks’ holiday season get together.

“We provide space for the clan, and an array of services including camp kitchens, laundries, kiosks, all of which take the pressure away from entertaining all of the family in your own home.”

Brisbane Holiday Village manager Geoff Illich said he couldn’t agree more.

“As a park manager Christmas is the most rewarding time of year seeing all the kids enjoy the facilities, families meeting new families, everyone enjoying the ‘old school’ caravan park values while either being in a caravan or in one of our cabins.”
