Always wanted to try sailing, but not sure how to go about it? Or are you a keen sailor, looking for a crewing opportunity?
A fabulous community program, Discover Sailing, gives people the opportunity to try their hand at this fantastic sport.
Discover Sailing provides opportunities for novice sailors through its Discover Sailing Days which are free, held all around Australia and open to people of all ages. Participants have the option of going for a short sail for an experienced sailor, check out club facilities and find out about programs and courses available. All equipment is provided by the club – all you need to take along are sunsafe clothes and shoes, sun screen, and a hat. Shoes with non-marking soles are preferred.
If you are an experienced sailor looking for crewing opportunities, this unique program can also assist.
Boat owners are always looking for crew to participate in twilight sailing, social sailing, cruising, or racing. Through the Discover Sailing website, you can select the type of sailing and the level at which you want to participate. The cost of participating as a crew will vary from club to club.
