Artisans in the Gardens Showcases at Sydney’s Royal Botanic Garden

Artisans in the Gardens is a contemporary exhibition embracing nature, innovative Australian craft and sculpture in Sydney’s Botanic Gardens, 11 – 19 October.

This free event is and opportunity to view and purchase newly commissioned work from over 50 emerging and established Australian artists and craftspeople from a broad spectrum of mediums including jewellery, ceramics, glass, textiles and sculpture.

This year’s exhibition focuses on the artist’s engagement with Nature, with works drawing inspiration from the beauty and complexity of the natural environment and issues around sustainability and environmental concerns.

Presented by Foundation & Friends of the Botanic Gardens, and curated by Julieanne Mills, the exhibition will showcase a broad spectrum of mediums, including jewellery, ceramics, glass, textiles and sculpture.

Outdoor sculptural works include Thor Beowulf’s living bonsai sculpture, Geoff Harvey’s canine cut outs and Judy Warne’s bronzed bark Man Rabbit.

This exhibition celebrates the diversity of artistic expression and the art of the hand made, and is an inspiring exploration of the natural world.
